Our Story

Rooted in a rich heritage of woodworking and axemanship, Engineered for Axemen was born out of a passion for perfection. Our founders, Pete and Anita, recognised the need for a brand that respects tradition and embraces the possibilities of modern engineering.

Our journey at Engineered for Axemen is deeply rooted in a family legacy that spans generations. The Flentje family's love affair with wood and timber began in 1938 when Grandfather Jack embarked on a path with the Victorian Forestry Commission, honing his skills at the Creswick Forestry School in west-central Victoria. Following in his father's footsteps, David Flentje continued the family tradition nearly three decades later, studying forestry at the same esteemed institution.

Wood has been an integral part of Pete's family heritage for as long as memory serves. He fondly cherishes memories of assisting his Grandad and Dad in sawing wood with a two-person chainsaw during his childhood. His fondest recollections are the sight of neatly stacked wood in Grandad's shed and the lingering aroma of freshly cut timber. Pete's connection to wood deepened in the final year of his Mechanical Engineering Degree, leading him to cross paths with Nev Meyer and discover a newfound passion for the sport of competition woodchopping. In the subsequent years, not only did his love for the sport and its community blossom, but he also leveraged his engineering expertise to craft the gear that unites wood choppers worldwide. This intersection of family history, personal passion, and engineering innovation forms the heart of Engineered for Axemen.
